Who Should Attend

All employers, supervisors and employees in the workplace should be trained in the basic use of fire extinguishers.

Aim

This course has been designed to instruct members of the workplace in the correct identification of fires, the correct type of extinguisher to use of a specific type of fire and the correct method of using a fire extinguisher and/or fire blanket.

Course Outline

  • Triangle of combustion
  • How to extinguish a fire
  • The 6 classes of fire and their combustible state
  • Identify the contents of a fire extinguisher
  • Identification of which fire extinguisher to use on different types of fires
  • PASS method
  • Sources of ignition
  • Emergency services

Pre Requisite

None

Training Material

Participants will receive a handout for completion.  A Power Point presentation forms part of this training. 

Assessment

Short written assessment.  Each participant has the opportunity to extinguish a controlled fire using our gas tray.

Outcome

Participants who demonstrate competency by successfully completing all assessments will receive a Certificate of Attendance for First Response Extinguisher Training.

Delivery

The course will be delivered via face-to-face format usually at your workplace for groups of participants.  ASTA's training facilities can be used for offsite training.
