Elevating Work Platform Association Yellow Card

Who Should Attend

Any person wishing to gain the skills required to obtain competency to operate Truck or Trailer mounted, Self-propelled Boom Lifts under 11 metres, Scissor Lifts (of any height), Vertical mast/personal lifts and articulated Elevated Work Platforms up to 11 Metres.

Aim

The aim of this course is to provide the participant with adequate knowledge to successfully complete the assessments required prior to application for a EWPA Yellow Cards.

Course Outline

On completion of this course, participants will know:

  • Hazard identification, risk assessment and controls
  • Fall arrest harness inspection, fitting and use
  • Identify safe operating parameters using data plate and manual
  • Conduct pre and post operational checks
  • Operation of EWP
  • Emergency procedures

Pre Requisite

Minimum age to obtain a Yellow Card is 14 years and 9 months.  Applicants under the age of 18 years of age will have a Restricted Yellow Card issued marked with an R.  The restriction will only allow the operator to operate an EWP under direct supervision of an Unrestricted (over 18) Yellow Card holder for the same EWP class.  When the operator turns 18 and has held their Restricted Yellow Card for more than 3 years (from the date of training), they will require refresher training before being issued with an Unrestricted Yellow Card.  If a restricted operator turns 18 and is within the 3 year period, the operator will need to contact the EWPA to organise issue of an Unrestricted Yellow Card.

Training Materials

Participants will receive a Participant Workbook for the EWP Operator Licence Yellow Card.  Power point presentations form part of this training.

A photograph is taken as part of this course as per the licensing requirements of the EWPA.

Assessments

Following successful completion of the written assessment, a practical assessment will be undertaken.  Assessments can be undertaken in Vertical Lift, Scissor Lift, Self Propelled Boom Lift, Trailer Lift and Truck Mounted. Participant is to supply a EWP for this assessment.  If they cannot provide a EWP within an agreeable distance for the assessor to conduct the practical assessment and EWP will be hired at the participants cost.

Outcome

On successful completion of assessments, ASTA will lodge the application for a Yellow Card with the EWPA on behalf of the participant. EWPA will forward a Yellow Card with photograph to the participants address provided.  This card is valid for 5 years.

Statement of Attainment for RIIHAN301D Operate elevating work platform can be requested from the EWPA for an additional cost of $50.

Delivery

The course will be delivered via a face-to-face format in either ASTA training rooms or at your workplace depending on numbers, client requirements and training facilities.
